Frequently Asked Questions
What veterinarian team has partnered with Happy Hounds?
Lakeland Veterinary, led by Dr. Bree Kraut! Curious about Dr. Kraut and her practice? Click HERE to check out her webpage.
How is price determined?
Lakeland is a mobile vet. Like all veterinarians, Dr. Kraut must examine a dog at least every 12 months before administering care or services. Your pup’s first visit will include an exam fee as well as the cost of your selected vaccines and/or services. Once your dog has had an appointment with Dr. Kraut, future appointments made in the following twelve months will have a smaller $40 recheck fee if it is for an Urgent Care visit, but only a $10 recheck fee if for additional vaccinations. When you sign up for the veterinary clinic, your selections will total your estimated costs before you schedule online.
When are vaccine clinics offered?
Currently, HH is offering clinics seasonally, four times per year. Stay tuned for future clinic dates.
If my dog is scheduled for a vaccine or veterinary service, when will my dog be seen?
Vaccine services occur between 9am-4pm, during daycare. Urgent Care visits will happen by appointment only.
Can I be there with my pup and meet the veterinarian?
If your dog is scheduled simply for vaccines, Happy Hounds will assume guardianship of your little one. Your pup will be personally escorted by a supervisor to the veterinarian. An equally high-ranking member of our team will then supervise your dog, keeping him or her safely under observation for a 30-minute period before allowing them to rejoin the greater pack.
If, however, you have selected an urgent care slot and your dog did not attend daycare, you may follow arrival instructions and attend the vet visit with your canine companion.
I typically administer medication before my dog sees a veterinarian. Will you give them their medication at an appropriate time before they see the veterinarian?
Yes. This question is included when scheduling any vet appointment. Indicate the medication / dosage and any other instructions, and we will administer it prior to their veterinary appointment.
How will I know what was discovered during my dog’s examination?
A Full Wellness Exam Soap will be released with your dog after daycare. This will include Subject, Objective, Assessment, and Plan for your pup.
Is it safe to vaccinate my dog before their vaccine is due?
Yes, it is safe to vaccinate your pet before the vaccine is due. This is done often in regards to getting all vaccines on a similar schedule. However, we do not recommend giving a dog more than 2 vaccines at a time if they under 20lbs. It can be done, but owner’s should be aware that this puts a higher demand on a small dog’s immune system. This should be avoided in dogs that have a history of previous vaccine reactions.
After my dog has seen the veterinarian, may I come and pick him or her up?
Veterinary appointments for dogs attending daycare will all conclude by 4pm on the day of the clinic. Pickup for all pups will occur during regularly scheduled pickup hours between 2pm and 7pm. If your pup is being seen between 2pm and 4pm, HH will notify you to pick up within those hours. Regardless, when the appointment is concluded, you will receive a notification.
What happens if my dog has a negative reaction to a vaccine or the service provided?
While adverse reactions to vaccines or treatment are rare, the partnered veterinary team is prepared. Depending on what the adverse reaction is (usually it’s itching, swelling, ect), medications are on site to administer as needed. If your pup has had adverse reactions to vaccines in the past, we would ask that you indicate when asked during your online booking process.
What is the benefit of utilizing the Happy Hounds vaccine clinic and veterinary services provided?
Happy Hounds will maintain records of all vaccination and services that are performed by our partner vet. While HH does not expect to replace the relationship you have with your current vet, we do hope to provide you with another “one stop shop” opportunity to avoid extra trips to the vet as those vaccination due dates creep up on you. If we can save you the hassle of one more stressful appointment to vet office, and do it instead at daycare in between playtime, we’re happy to accommodate. On the rare occasion that your dog is suffering right before one of our clinics, we offer a limited number of urgent care visits for you to utilize.
